"In life, sometimes everything falls into place, and sometimes everything just falls to pieces. The key is to begin creating with these fallen pieces. By improvising, you'll create something magical that might be the best thing you've ever accomplished."

Trina Turk in Palm Springs

So in true Sarah fashion, I chose to spend the day shopping in Palm Springs to celebrate my 25th birthday! First destination on the agenda? Why of course, Trina Turk! I fell in love with the interior (mostly because the prominent use of yellow, my favorite color), designed by the renowned Kelly Wearstler.

A Lost Art, My New Undertaking

Here is my latest crafting venture...learning the art of embroidery. I can't wait to see if I'm any good at it and this is the book I have chosen to lead the way! Hoping to post progress pictures soon!

Tiffany Keys: An Intriguing Invitation. A Revealing Discovery. A Promise of Adventure. A Whispered Romance. A Question Answered. A Secret Kept.

I adore these more than I should.

Blast from the Past

SoCal streetwear brand Neff's most recent drop of colorful lids features the throwback neon graphic styles of the 80s and early 90s.

Good thing I didn't toss this trucker hat out with the rest (shown below)...seems it would fit right in again (well if I dare to wear it). I've always had a special bond with this hand-painted jewel, given we both survived a colorful 2004 New Year's Eve in NYC -- I acquired it at Mickey's Blue Room somewhere in East Village that is sadly, no longer open, but alas, the memories remain.

Currently reading...

I appreciate the way John Baichtal describes this wonderful book by Keri Smith:
"How to Be an Explorer of the World: Portable Art Life Museum aims to help busy people find a creative outlet in the midst of their routines, rather than cramming it all into special creative times. Written by writer and artist Keri Smith (author of theGuerilla Art Kit) the book features a number of "explorations" to help people reconnect with the oft-ignored detail around them."

Flea Market Rendezvous

Whenever I get a chance, I love to get completely lost amongst all the beautiful, awkward and kitschy items found at a flea market -- I can literally spend hours and hours studying other peoples "junk". During this particular trip while visiting Scottsdale, Arizona, I fell in love with all the vibrant and unique book spines -- there were hundreds of old library books displayed. Here are just a few photos I snapped as I was meandering. Enjoy!

Keep Calm and Carry On

(I love my lamp)

So this framed poster hangs next to my bed and I make sure I look at it everyday...one of my favorite quotes to live by. The design originated in Britain and a has even made the New York Times take notice. Read the article here. Many people have created their own versions of this poster and I bought mine about a year and a half ago from sfgirlbybay on etsy.com (who was also mentioned in the NY Times article). I almost want one in every color :)

Proof I hate packing...

I hate packing for no other reason than I hate it. I dress according to my mood and that is hard to forecast sometimes. Ok, majority of the time. So, to prove how much I procrastinate when it comes to filling a suitcase, I am posting what I just sketched. Remote controls. Really?! Sitting on my bed, I spot two sharpies and a legal pad within arms reach. I look down to my right and see the remotes sitting on my night stand. I proceed to then draw them instead of using them to turn on my tv -- aka another distraction I clearly do not need right now. What I DO need is a fire lit under my...well, you know where. Maybe, just maybe the remotes will take on an instant, special packing power that will just take care of it for me (while making sure everything matches and remains fashion forward by my standards, of course)...wishful thinking. And the best part is that it took more time to open my lap top, sign in and write this, then I even spent on my Magnavox masterpiece...now let the productivity ensue!!

Shout OUT!

Yay, for fellow design comrade/former colleague, Frank Chimero, who graced the site Outblush with his presence -- I could literally spend hours on there. Men, check out Uncrate to see what you can't live without. How awesome for him!! Check out his other work at frankchimero.com.

Obsessed

This is from one of my all time favorite home decor web sites, Designers Guild. I am completely head-over-heels for the Rosemoor bedding collection -- ultra whimsical and girly -- not me at all ;)

Appreciate Talent

I can always appreciate great photography skills (and be secretly envious). Check out juliagaldo.com and pine over her above par photos. One of her clients is juxtapoz -- how awesome!

Wish List

Can I have these?
